Rules and Specifications
Rules Committee: A three-person rules committee shall be elected by registered membership, on or before opening day. They will answer all questions relating to the eligibility of boats and equipment, interpret the rules and specifications and recommend any advisable alterations ore additions to the rules.
Interpretation: Rules and specifications, however complete, cannot anticipate every possible situation that may arise. If a point is not herein covered, a ruling should be obtained from the ÒRules CommitteeÓ before any changes are made.
Standards: All boats shall conform to the rules and specifications set forth herein. The plans and specifications on file with the builder shall be considered as the official standardÉFACTORY!
Hulls: All hulls shall conform to the original design. ÒHullÓ means the entire boat as delivered by the builder. As we all know each and every hull is not (exactly) the same, but for the most part, the outer shells are. Therefore the outer shell must comply with the ÒFACTORYÓ rule, while other parts (if not radically altered) will be allowed. The boat will have (2) floatation tanks (fore and aft) filled with foam. The bare hull without rudder, centerboard and standing rig should weigh no less than 110 pounds (U.S.). All boats weighing less than 110 pounds shall carry corrective weights. The weights will be permanently mounted as low as possible to the wall of both the fore and aft floatation tanks in equal proportions.
Daggerboard: The daggerboard shall be made of wood and shall not exceed 24Ó from the bottom of the hull. The exposed thickness of the centerboard shall not exceed 1 ¼Ó. The exposed profile should measure 12Ó with a plus or minus of ½Ó allowed.
Spars: Spars, consisting of a mast, gunter (hoist) and boom shall all be made of aluminum tubing with a wall thickness of no more than 1/8Ó. The mast should measure 8Õ with a diameter of 1 ½Ó. The gooseneck should be located 36Ó from the bottom of the mast. The gunter (hoist) should measure 11Õ 2Ó in length and 1 1/8Ó diameter. The gunter (hoist) can be stiffened by use of a wood dowel. Standing rigging will not be allowed. The boom shall be no longer than 8Õ with a 1 1/8Ó diameter.
Sails: The mainsail shall have three evenly spaced battens. Top 30Ó, Center 40Ó, and bottom 40Ó. FULL LENGTH BATTENS ARE NOT PERMITTED. The leech of the sail shall follow a smooth curving arc, having no sudden angular deviations and may be composed of one or more straight lines. Headboards or any other stiffening devices will not be allowed. The size of each sail shall be governed by the following dimensions:
